Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Metex Limited (“Metex”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through metex.co.nz and our email newsletter, why we collect it, and how you can access or correct it. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address and, if you give it, your name. We also record when and how you subscribed and confirmed, so we can show that you agreed to receive our emails.
  • Questions and comments: if you send us a question through the website or leave a comment, your name, email address and what you wrote.
  • Emails and phone calls: whatever you choose to tell us when you contact us directly.
  • Technical information: like any website, our server records basic details of each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We use this only to keep the site secure and working.
  • Email activity: our newsletters record whether a message was delivered, opened or had a link clicked, so we can tell whether our emails are useful and stop sending to addresses that no longer work.

How we use it

We use your information to send you the newsletter you asked for, to answer your questions, to provide our consultancy and training services, and to protect the website from spam and misuse. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.

We only send marketing emails to people who have agreed to receive them, as required by the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. New subscribers confirm their subscription by clicking a link in an email before they receive anything. Asking a question or leaving a comment does not subscribe you to our newsletter.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately. You can also manage which topics you receive using the “Manage preferences” link, or email us at any time. If you ask us to stop contacting you permanently, we keep only your email address on a “do not contact” list so that you are never added back by mistake.

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run our website and email. They process information only on our behalf:

  • Amazon Web Services hosts our website and mailing list, and delivers our emails, from data centres in Sydney, Australia.
  • Google Workspace provides our business email.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile checks that forms on our website are being filled in by a person rather than an automated program.

Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand. We choose providers that protect personal information to standards comparable to the Privacy Act. We will only disclose your information otherwise if the law requires it.

Cookies

Our website uses only the cookies it needs to work, for example to remember your name if you leave a comment, or to keep site administrators logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep subscriber details while you remain subscribed, and questions and correspondence for as long as they are useful for answering you and improving our services. Website technical logs are kept for a short time only. When information is no longer needed, we delete it, apart from the “do not contact” list described above.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Contact us at barry@metex.co.nz and we will respond as soon as we can, and in any case within 20 working days. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
